Of the major fashion craze in UK is gym wear where its sale can be worth £6.7bn in the next five years. Without a doubt, there is huge amount of competition among the multination brands of sportswear. The young female entrepreneurs who are absolutely bossing it is Grace Beverley, 22-year-old founder and director of TALA, B_ND and SHREDDY, which are three fitness related brands.

All whilst completing her degree at Oxford University, Grace consistently worked hard to create these incredible brands and provide women the opportunity to kick-start their fitness journey with top notch products, in top quality gear. B_ND  was launched in 2017 offers premium gym equipment at affordable prices, with their best-known product being a resistant band used by thousands of fitness lovers and influencers around the globe.

B_ND uses recycled and up cycled vegan materials, as well as packaging them in cotton and using biodegradable mailing bags, cutting costs for both the consumer and the planet.” We originally released resistance bands and barbell pads in November 2017, they were well priced, vegan, designed well and came with a free guide! Prior to our bands, they were either terrible quality or plastic or good quality and £40, which is what I sought to change. “she says.

TALA is a sustainable, ethical and high-performance clothing range which boasts suitability for not only the gym, but also every day wear and funky festival outfits. TALA is extremely individual in that the products are produced from plastic bottles and factory offcuts, and you can even plant the label of the clothes to grow your very own plant. Grace, still at such a young age considering all she has achieved, has racked up a huge 1 million Instagram followers and recently won an award for London’s young entrepreneur of the year at Natwest’s great British entrepreneur awards.

Beverley is always seeking to push the boundaries and exceed industry expectations and is sure to continue to amaze her followers in the future. Grace’s business, TALA, sells active wear and loungewear that is 92% sustainable. Which is incredible, affordability is what makes this brand different to any other. When Grace blogged about sustainable brands she always pointed out that although they are amazing and help the planet, they were being sold at extortionate prices that put them out of the reach of many consumers.

In an interview with ‘euro news’ Grace said “it seemed that sustainability was a trendy thing so brands thought, ‘we can charge a premium on that’. So I thought, let’s find a middle ground”.

From sitting in her bedroom and talking to a camera about leading a healthy lifestyle, to becoming a multiple business owner and London’s young entrepreneur of the year, Grace Beverley is an influencer moving in the right direction. She has turned waste in to a sustainable empire and turned heads away from feasting in the fast fashion frenzy.

Along with staunch sustainability messaging, Grace — and by extension TALA — also firmly believes in being both on-trend and inclusive for all bodies, which is obvious in all of the campaigns to date. Women of all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities are front and centre in every promotional photograph and, surprisingly, Grace hasn’t felt pressure to put herself at the centre of the brand. In fact, the opposite is true.

The sizes for TALA’s core collection ranges from a UK 4 to 20, and for Grace, this was never negotiable. “That was just one of the things that we knew that the [fashion] industry needed to fix,” she says. “And the reaction we get from our campaigns in terms of diversity and everything just reflects how unusual it is, and how bad it is that it’s abnormal.” She also admits that creating more sizes naturally creates more work for the factory, but that it wasn’t as difficult as the fashion industry currently has us to believe. “With some pieces, it might be something where they literally just put the measurements in there and some; it might be that they need to use different machines for different sizes.”

Previously, Grace did talk about the days when she was going through awful time and mentally pressurized which was due to the hard work she was putting in.

“The most ease hour would working in front of the television and I also know for the fact that I am immensely fortunate to say that ‘work hard on week days and have fun during the weekends. ’In college, I didn’t do that but still managed to be a graduate and work. “I had thought about it a year and half ago that I wanted people to know about my mental health, if it was through social media, family or friends.” She says.

“I became aware that I need to speak about the mental illness and do away with the shame, I didn’t think of trying on myself.”

She says there is always lots to be done while setting up or starting a new venture, but let not your health become the obstacle in your way .

Grace says in 2020 she will carry on as director of her companies, but says she will be giving less time working too.

“I feel  2020 is going to be more promising than ever, paying more attention on the stuff  I love such as directing the strategy, vision and creative of the business, then being able to delegate other parts.”
